Our story
Skippy's Early Learning Centres have been providing the children of Central Queensland with care and learning opportunities since 4 September 2007.
At Skippy's we have been laying the foundation for better lives through great early learning experiences from day one and we continue to provide these opportunities for today's children.
From the day a child is born they are learning and our job is to create stimulating, age-appropriate learning experiences and environments that give children a secure base and the confidence to learn and explore.
Our intention is to develop collaborative, respectful partnerships with families, the community and professionals to foster and sustain children's long-term learning and development. We are dynamic advocates for children of early year's education and the dedicated professionals within our field.
The Skippy's Way

We are enthusiastic, committed and dedicated to fostering confidence and competence in children whilst doing what we love.
Innovation
We design and adapt our learning environments and curriculum based on research, training and professional development.
Empowerment
Having the resilience to believe in yourself and take action. Mentoring and supporting others to do the same.
Excellence
Striving to be the best that we can in all that we say and all that we do.
Fun
Our Educators together with children explore, create, dance, laugh, construct and learn through fun, adventurous play.
Difference
We all have gifts to share and as a team we make a difference in the lives of each child in our care.
Our educators
Our Educators have a variety of knowledge, skills and experiences which enhances the education and care that your child receives at Skippy's.
We endeavour to employ caring, loyal and capable Educators who bring to the centre a high skill level, appropriate qualifications and a wide and varying amount of experiences to help implement our centres philosophy.
We ensure our primary educators have:
-
suitable qualifications and experience to care for children
-
an understanding of their responsibilities under the law
-
the appropriate personality to care for children
Child Safety & Wellbeing
We understand that leaving your child in someone else's care is a difficult thing to do. We assure you that safety is our top priority and our educators follow safety practices every day.
We have a number of Health and Safety policies and procedures which are accessible to families and our educators go through a comprehensive Educator Orientation and Induction ensuring they have the knowledge to follow our health and safety policies and procedures.
At all times, we ensure that our centre is secure and free of hazards, both inside and out. We conduct daily playground checks and audits, fire, emergency evacuation and lockdown drills are a regular part of our informed approach to safety. We emphasise safety education by creating an atmosphere of safety awareness in all aspects of the day. You will see visual safety guides around our centre, such as our sun smart posters. These tools support our lessons about safety, which we discuss as part of the curriculum. We take every opportunity to act as role models, pointing out tripping or slipping hazards and putting hats and sunscreen on for outdoor play. We discuss personal safety with the children to build awareness and help the children to talk freely with us if they are worried or concerned.
We welcome all children with a wide variety of abilities, backgrounds or needs. If your child requires extra medical, emotional or learning support, we will tailor our care for them and work closely with you to ensure they have a smooth transition into our centre. This includes seeking support from other networks or professionals to bridge any gaps in our service delivery.
